Equifax Hack

Equifax Hack

So back in June, I got credit card fraud. Did I buy $300 worth of stuff from Walmart.com? Nope. The charges were reversed, I got a new card. And I thought everything was fine until this Equifax Hack Announcement. A couple weeks ago, Equifax let us know that hackers went into their systems from mid-May to July, stealing the personal information of 143M Americans. They also got about 209K credit card #s and 182K credit dispute details. WTF. What you should…

SoFi Networking Event

SoFi Networking Event

It was at a beautiful botanical garden in the suburbs in Chicago. They bussed us from the city and back, so we didn’t have to worry about getting there. I guess SoFi does this sort of thing to be a “different kind of finance company,” which hey, is cool with…

When you shouldn’t pay your debt off early

When you shouldn’t pay your debt off early

Debt sucks, but all debts are not created equal. I bought my first grownup car in the summer of 2014. (My previous car was from Mom and Dad… they are the BEST.) I didn’t have enough to buy the car outright, so I got a $20k car loan with 2% APR. About a year later was the golden summer of 2014. That was the summer when the smaller company I worked for was being acquired by a gigantor corporation. They…
